Are you kidding me?!?
I was watching my usual Monday night programming, The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and decided to stay tuned for Thintervention.
There are some people on the show that are 50% fat! One is only 22 years old. Several of the clients on the show were previously in great shape, including a former fitness model, professional cheerleader, and Playboy model. The reality is that the majority of our society is over-weight or obese. I, too, would fall into that category. According to the body mass index chart, I am 20 pounds overweight.
How every, I am working hard to fix that. (Although today, I had a hamburger and a yogurt shake with my mom at lunch today.)
Jackie Warrner, the personal trainer, is so inspiring. On the first episode, she gave her clients homework: go home and toss out everything that has more than 5 grams of sugar and drink water with lemon juice, which will detox your liver and burn more calories. Just about everything in these peoples pantries got tossed into the trash. Her recommendation, get rid of even the yogurt. It has 13 grams of sugar per serving.
The reality is we, as Americans, have an unhealthy relationship with food. We associate food with our emotions, whether you think about it or not. We need to get to a place where we eat only for nourishment and not just to eat to stimulate our senses.
So, my goal this week it to do just that. Nothing with more than 5 grams of sugar. Stay tuned as I will weigh and measure in on Saturday to track my progress.
Join me and let me know what results you get this week!
